calling Annie Sloan experts please

I am a novice, but looking to complete a project over the summer holidays.

I have added a photo of the chest of drawers I want to paint and one of the look I hope to create.

The drawers are in my living room, which is hard to describe the colourscheme , sort of ambers, dark golds and brown tones. So I think Arles is the colour I want.

So if any of you could look at the pictures and give me some advice on how to get my drawers looking like that dresser, any help greatly appreciated.

No expert but I did my tv cabinet in AS paint.
It's fairly easy to apply, just make sure the drawers are clean and dry beforehand. I didn't use the brushes, I used a mini roller and small ordinary paint brush and it turned out fine. I distressed it with fine sandpaparr and sealed it with plain Matt varnish. I decided against the wax as I was afraid it wouldn't stand up to the battering my children would give it! Very pleased with how it turned out.

Ah, I also have children who like to batter things,matt varnish would be good here.

I also applied the matte varnish with a mini roller, very thin coats.

Sorry I can't see your photo on the app. If your chest of drawers has a shiny or varnished finish the paint will stick fine but you may get a lot of runs. Get around this by painting one side at a time and turning the piece so you are painting the side which faces straight up.

Thanks for the tip about the varnish, Bustle. I had been wondering whether that would work for my pine shelves that I am going to paint. Didn't think wax would be robust enough (and not very wipeable either).
