I have just done my walls grey. All woodwork is white (satinwood)
IMO it looks lovely

I think the law of skirting boards is that they have to be white. What other colours are you considering?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 17/06/2014 23:23

I think it's considered more contemporary to do the skirting boards the same colour as the walls.

I cba, tbh Wink

weyayechickenpie · 17/06/2014 23:25

White. I cant ever imagine them being a different colour unless its a kids bedroom and you go a bit wild with the paint.

HauntedNoddyCar · 17/06/2014 23:26

Our skirting boards are magnolia. Previous occupant did it. It is all kinds of wrong and looks like someone has smoked a million fags lying on the floor.

They will be made white.

kansasmum · 17/06/2014 23:27

I'm in the middle of painting my kitchen grey (Soft Steel- Crown!) and have painted all the woodwork white- looks great! It was an ivory/cream before and just looked dirty all the time. Trouble is ALL the gloss will need doing white now!!

Dollydowser · 17/06/2014 23:27

White satinwood. You are right, youdontneedacriminalawer, it is the law.

paneer · 17/06/2014 23:29

I've never had white skirting boards before! That's one I have never considered!

people always say I am bold with colour. I always took it as a compliment. they are probably thinking crazy lady with the non white skirting boards!

If you keep them white you can change the walls whenever you want without doing the woodwork. I once - ONCE - thought it'd be a good idea to paint them dark brown

violetwellies · 18/06/2014 20:02

Mine are black, I think the ones downstairs maybe v.dark green.(kitchen) They are mostly not painted, it's some sort of woodstain-original colour.
The ones downstairs are somesort of concrete, it was dark grey, and crumbling. I couldn't match the colour, so did it in f&b it's a v. dark green, looks black.

scotchtikidoll · 18/06/2014 20:05

OH MY GOD Magnolia

I'm lying on the floor next to MY skirting boards, laughing at your comment!

SunnyRandall · 23/06/2014 16:07

All my doors, skirting boards and stair bannisters are magnolia. Badly painted magnolia. It is fucking vile and I want to cry when I think of the time and money that will be involved in correcting it.

What is most infuriating is the house is only 4yrs old so the previous owners must have needlessly painted over the builders standard white.

HauntedNoddyCar · 23/06/2014 17:22

Yep Sunny. Exactly the same. Wardrobe doors too. Spindles on the staircase.

burnishedsilver · 25/06/2014 15:36

In a moment of madness, in the early 90s, I painted my skirting boards in a fake wood grain paint effect. It was hideous. Lesson learned. The question now isn't what colour, its white satin or white eggshell.

SunnyRandall · 25/06/2014 19:49

I want eggshell when I win the lottery and can actually afford to get it all done.
