Want to help me reorganise my bookcase?

Right, I really need to declutter the house. I have a bookcase in our family room that drives me mad. Things have just got dumped on the shelves with little thought.

I know there are artful ways of displaying stuff, but I need a hand.

Anyone up to giving some advice? Will post a photo.

On a phone so can't get the best look at your picture. I have a similar bookcase. Why not arrange the books you have according to height, some at each 'end' leaving a space in the middle for the picture and any other nice bits? I have a small vase, some pictures and a couple of objects from travels.

Yes, good idea. I have spent this evening browsing shelf arranging websites. I have too many books, many of which will never be read again.

Funny, I read somewhere the bast way to arrange shelves is to take a photo and upload it onto a screen as it is easier to tell what looks out of place. The TV looks odd set to one side. I think it needs to be centred.

Operation bookshelf starts tomorrow!

The TV does look odd. What is next to it? Can you maybe only put your most favourite coordinating books in this bookcase and make room for another photo maybe a vase?

After much procrastinating, I have reorganised! DH saw it as an opportunity to buy more gadgets a new TV, so we have our new 3D smart TV there too. Would welcome any feedback

It looks a lot better. Mine really annoyed me for a long time so I bought magazine files and a lot of my a4 books are in them. I kept my favourites put on display. Then I bought boxes in the same colour scheme as the room. I will try and get a photo of what I mean.
