What paint should i use for repainting a kitchen table and chairs?

It has been painted already in something clearly not suitable as every stain has just absorbed into it.

I want to repaint it white and obviously need it to be water proof and pretty durable. I'm hesitant to use white gloss as it yellows very quickly and also i'm not so fussed on the super thick glossy look.

Any recommendations?

I'd go for Annie Sloan chalk finish or similar. Just bung it on (well that's what I do!).

How well does the chalk paint get on with cleaning products? I tend to chuck the bleach about quite a bit.

It's pretty hard wearing, if that"s what you mean. I'm not sure about a table top, though. I painted mine and it looked awful.

Otherwise, I'd go for it. Try a tester first, of course.

Thank you. I wonder i there is a compatible sealent i can use for the table top. We have an autentico stockist in town so i shall ask if there is such a thing.

Actially, there's a matching varnish. That may do the trick?

I did the table legs in dulux easycare satin. It turned out very well. I sanded to table top back to bare wood and varnished it.

burnished yes, agree that leaving table top sanded/ / varnished is better than painting and regretting it!

I know a lot of people who regularly paint furniture use a wax to finish with, that should certainly make it less porous. Also have a look at Decorators Varnish, you can get lots of differently finishes and it's good for avoiding scuff marks etc.

I've heard this Autentico paint is really good as you don't need to prime etc... but not used myself.
