Mother of pearl Paint finish help!

I am in the process of decorating my cloak room. I have the paper I would like but want for the back wall. I am wanting is to paint the rest in a mother of pearl finish. Has anyone ever done this? If so how did it turn out and what is the best paint to use? I am guessing that I need to paint the wall white or the colour of choice and put a gloss type paint on top to get the mother of pearl finish I am wanting? Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

I think Laura Ashley do pearlised emulsions don't know what they're like tho. I used to use a Paint Magic colourwash. I expect you can still get the equivalent or make your own with an acrylic scumble glaze and powder pigment. Brush it on or roller it on but then brush over to get a reasonably even finish. You're better off doing 2 or 3 thin coats than one heavy one.
