Help me redecorate my kitchen

I want to repaint our kitchen, but have no idea what colour to choose. The kitchen cupboards are a pale powder blue colour, with grey flecky coloured worktops, beige tiled splashbacks and white floor tiles. The walls are currently lemon yellow. Bearing in mind that we can't afford to do anything other than repaint right now, can anyone suggest a reasonable colour for the walls?

I tried Dulux's colour thingy and it suggests dark green, but the house is north facing and the kitchen is at the back so doesn't get any direct sun. I'm worried that a dark colour will make the room feel very dark. The ceilings are also nearly 3m high, so I don't want anything that will make the ceiling feel too low (if that makes sense!). Any thoughts?

What about white?

Jasmine white by Dulux is a very nice white, not really yellow at all, but looks good in our East kitchen, which is quite dark some of the day. We have cream cupboards and white tiles with a red stripe, and dark blue oven, and limed white floorboards. We put quite a lot of red in the room (rugs etc) and that is also something which goes well with powder blue ime.
Oyster by Fired Earth was the colour we had in our previous kitchen which was North facing, but the cupboards were brilliant white, and worktops wooden, and floor terracotta.

I'm not really keen on just plain white, as we have 2 kids under 4 (grubby hand prints) and the ceiling is high - so I'm worried that white walls and white ceilings will make it seem cavernous.
I like the look of the jasmine white though - think that could work. I just googled a few images of it in situ and it looks good, especially against white woodwork/windows, which is what we have. Will head off in search of tester pots!

Try re-posting in DIY and Property, there is a lot of paint traffic there!
