Do you have a colour palette for your house? And if so, what?

We're moving soon into a 'forever home' and I'm very excited about being able to decorate over the coming years, working my way around the house. I really like the idea of having a palette of shades that are used in all of the rooms to give a harmonious feel. I currently really like grey but worried it will date quickly.

Cream is nice but I have a toddler!

Inspire me please! Any colour suggestions and how you incorporate them greatly appreciated!

Cream,grey,black. It's a new build so cream walls are a given! Cream flooring,although changing the living room to dark grey carpet soon.

mine is whites and brights throughout - I don't care how fashionable/not fashionable it is, it's what I like.

I think what you're planning is a good idea. In a previous house I chose different colour for the walls in each room and it looked a bit odd in hindsight. I think I prefer one paint colour throughout (the living areas anyway)

I don't think I have a colour palette "for my house", but I do (very much) have a colour palette for me and inevitably my home environments reflect that.

I like velvets, flowery brocades, gold, silver, natural materials...

No colour palette chosen but after yrs of hotch potch of decorating I decided to use pale blue , cream.white and sand for the downstairs cos I really like the calm colours. It's fairly y neutral so other things like art work we've had for yrs fits in well.

Going to do out bedroom soon and dh rolling how eyes cos I'm planning same sort of colours but with dark wood furniture.

I decorate my house in colours I look good in - it works for me :)

We don't have a palette at home, my tastes are so eclectic we'd be constantly redecorating! All our walls are white - love white - colour is added with "stuff".

If going for colour the main thing to remember is to keep the tone of colours in different rooms the same so when you move from one room to the next its not jarring if that makes sense. So don't have pastel in one room and then a bright colour in the next, go for all subtle or all brightnot a mix.

My house is mainly pale greens and pale aqua type blues but son's bedroom has a couple of walls done in a deeper teal blue which doesn't jar as although it is deeper and stronger, it is on the same pallete.

We have a palette. It's rainbow. My house is like walking into a bag of skittles.

No - each room is a stand alone. The dc have chosen the colours for their bedrooms, and I've chosen depending on things like the light, and the use of the area for all other rooms.

The magnolia is not through choice, it's rented and I'll be damned if I'm paying to decorate it to my taste then paying again to put it back to magnolia when we move out.

In my dream house it'll be a shabby chic/vintage haven & a red/white/navy in DC's bedrooms.

I like old things so we have a lot of farrow and ball sludgy colours. Sounds nicer than it is.

Previous owners have done the house in duck blue. It was v nice when we moved in but after three years I fancy a change.

I have lots of greens- bright lime in the kitchen, teal in the hallway, willow in the living room, jade in the bedroom. I try and tie them in with flooring. My kitchen and hallways have the same tiled floor, similar in the bathroom, cream carpets in the living room and stairs, and will be in the bedrooms too when I can afford it!

I'm shamelessly going for grey. What can I say, I'm easily led and a slave to fashion :-) it's such a good neutral though and more toddler proof than cream, IMO. (We've chosen so much grey for our new house that when I went with dh to choose a birthday present - for me - and wanted some grey shoes his comment was 'hmmm, a bold choice.' Me (excited): 'oh do you think so?' Him: 'no.')

After a bit of time I want to go for some pinks and cream accents in the lounge, offset by the grey, natch, and I was going to do duck egg and grey in our bedroom but am swithering towards yellow and grey right now. Ds's room will be primaries and his younger siblings will depend on results of 20week scan, heheh. We've got patterned curtains, bumpers etc from ds's old nursery and I can pull out a sagey green for a boy, pink for a girl. (Shhh don't tell anyone but I secretly love pink.)

soontobe I think I do the opposite! I look crap in lovely pale colours like sea green, pink, oatmeal (only really suit black, white, navy, bright pink etc) so because I have to avoid them in my wardrobe I max them out in my decor :-)
