Hi. I have three wooden chairs I bought second hand, the wood is nothing special so want to paint them in bright colours - red/ teal maybe. Anyone done this and have any tips? Should I do a base layer in white? I'm a novice crafter... Thank you!

Just done this, you need annie sloan chalk paint! Loads of threads on it if you search on here

Or make your own chalk paint.
Loads if recipes on Pinterest

I used one that added plaster of Paris.

Worked beautifully and could gave the colour I actually wanted.

Sand down lightly to create a key (so the paint sticks on)
Then paint!
