How often do you re-furbish?

Curious. Been watching the interior design prog and feeling my whole house downstairs is old fashioned.

I am very economical- I think!

Been in this house for 17 years and replaced kitchen and both bathrooms and cloakroom.

All carpets and curtains about 10 years ago- managed with what was here and what we brought with us from previous house, downstairs but not in bedrooms.

Have my sofa and chairs for about 15 years but have had new covers made for both.

I made a mistake with my curtains and ordered the same ones for the 3 rooms- lounge, study and dining room. I've never liked them but 3 pairs of made to measure by JL were £££.

I'm wondering how to give it all a facelift- thinking cushions, new photo frames instead of a jumble that I've been given, - what else?

You might be able to sell and buy curtains at the curtain exchange ... Same goes for cushions etc - look online and see if there's anything listed near you !

I get bored with my home very quickly and so am always changing things - much to my DH's annoyance !

Throws and different size/ shape scatter cushions can help change the look of a sofa - maybe ask a friend or two over and spend the afternoon moving furniture about for a fresh look ?! I love doing stuff like this - you might find you have a friend who would enjoy helping you shake things up a bit !!!

Most of all, have fun and enjoy it !!!!

Could you dye the curtains?

I change things every year - bits of furniture, wall colours, I do makeovers on the bathrooms and kitchen. It's a sort of creative work in progress which means that there are always things on my to do list!

Bonsoir - I have just PM'd you.

OP sorry to hijack.

Never, refurbishing budget goes on hobbies, holidays and geek.

We've been going to do the kitchen since we moved in 15 years ago, but a trip to Disney was more fun and new cars more urgent.

DH doesn't notice and I don't notice for long enough to give up a holiday for. Perhaps if I wasn't a SAHM carpets, kitchens and curtains are what I'd buy. But then again the amount of junk to move to re carpet is huge.

Also if I got a new sofa, I'd have to tell DD2 not to do back walkovers on and off it a 1000x a day.
