I need light fittings that look good but don't cost the earth! Floor lamps. Mirrors, big, nice stylish mirrors. One large for lounge, one for near front door. One long one and a dressing table mirror for bedroom.

A big clock for the kitchen I like black and white station style clocks.

Old mirrors are much nicer than new ones. I have a lot, picked up over the years in antique shops, passed down from relatives etc. English ones, French ones, Italian ones, 20th century ones, 19th ones, 18th century ones. Wood, painted, metal frames. They needn't cost more than a mirror from a chain store.

A beautifully framed mirror will add character and warmth to a room.

Laura Ashley sale? Ridiculous prices usually but seen some great quality mirrors in the sale.

I agree about old mirrors! Think I might hit the sale rooms and junk shops.

Find my silver mirror thread - we bought a lovely silver mirror from it

not on the highstreet for quirky clocks

If you're into Moroccan-y exotic style furniture I love yellow sunrise

Or myakka does beautifully carved wooden mirrors and Indian style lamps

But for lighting, I can never beat BHS's lighting selection
