Linen bedding

I thought it might be a nice birthday gift to order some bedsheets and covers made of linen. The wisdom of the internet seems to be that Irish linen is the best, so I had a casual look, and prices are awe-inspiringly high (up to £447.80 for a bedsheet, never mind duvet covers).

So, my questions are:

  • Can anyone tell me from experience if the expensive ones are much different?
  • What would be good sources for a lower budget?

Thanks for any help!

That's a ridiculous price for sheets IMO. Have a look at DAPW, they have extremely good quality bedding at a range of prices. here

I have linen sheets and duvet covers. I bought all mine in France. IME the more expensive ones are thicker and more comfortable. Be prepared for the added weight - my duvet is much heavier with a linen cover than with a cotton one.

Thanks, makes sense. My experiences are restricted to IKEA, and their linen covers don't seem much different in weight from cotton.

May I ask what shops in France?

I buy them at La Redoute whenever I have a half price code.

That a good site, Wild!

I've bought them from Caravane (expensive) and Linvosges (cheaper).

No linen though.

Thanks again!

Society www.societylimonta.com/ also makes amazing linen bedding. Very expensive.

I love Society Limonta! So beautiful!

Francagoestohollywood · 27/01/2014 17:03

Yes, me too. I wish I had the budget for it Grin

Yes! Me too! I am hankering after a coarse linen tablecloth in oversize broderie anglaise...
