After contemplating moving for a while we have decided to stay put for the next few years. This means that I can (kind of) justify spending a bit of money on the things that have been bugging me since we moved in, 4 years ago.
The house is a 1930s mid-terrace and I have been wanting a painted, period front door, similar to some other houses in the area. I have ordered this one (on phone so not sure if link will work)

And had planned to have it painted with gloss, maybe dark blue or dark green. (Secretly want a bold yellow but unlikely to be brave enough
) I showed my mum the door online and she thinks it would be a crime to cover the wood, and I should just have it clear glazed. What do you think?
