Reusing FUGLY curtains - is this idea crap?

I'm decorating my hallway. It's being painted Matt white and their are 4 doors in it which are painted in Paloma grey (a soft lilacs grey).

This means that with all the doors it's about half and half white and lilac.

The curtains I have are from another room and are a pale cream thick chenille. I'm thinking about putting cut out fabric hearts all over them to tie in with the lilac.

I really want to reuse these curtains as they are a non standard size and fit 2 very odd windows in my house.

I'm going for a soft french country look.

Could you put a trim down each leading edge in the lilac or a wide lilac band across the bottom. May not be the look you are going for but might be easier to make it look like the curtains were designed like that
