Chesterfield sofas- comfy and worth it?? Please help! Have 3 under 3.5 years, 2cats and a dog and looking at getting Chesterfields but never sat on one. Figured whilst I'd love cosey fabric it's not practical with such little kids. New Edwardian house so figured second-hand Chesterfields would suit the age. Any experience welcome!?!

We have a 2 seater that we inherited, and I grew up with the full set in my childhood home, comfy, practical and easy to clean (a quick vacuum of the button holes) with 4 very hairy dogs, although we are looking to sell the 2 seater for redecoration purposes!

Yes, very comfy.
We've got two leather two seaters ( that are usually occupied by the dogs ) I love them!

We have several 2 seater a large wing back and a swivel /bendy office chair in the red.
They are comfy, easy to clean (have even steamed ours).

Thanks for the replies! Think we'll push ahead then! Had just feared the low backs were uncomfy possibly- but am looking at the v long 4 seaters and poss a 2 or 3 seater also oran arm chair...
Was considering the bottle green- but am not sure whether to play it a little safer and just get a vintage choc brown. We have a regular 2 seater sofa (leather) in brown now, and not knowing how we'll decorate the mew place I just wonder if the gorgeous green may limit colour options??

I love our Chesterfield 3 seater and it is comfy to sit watch tv etc but it's not really snuggly if you want to cosy up with your partner and a film cos they're firm. But I just bung a few cushions on for such occasions and it's fine!

MrsH2010 · 14/12/2013 08:54

I shall have cushions at the ready- woodburner in new place and just finished a lovely quilt so we should be good!! Having said that with 3 under 3.5 by April I think we could do with sitting at opposite ends of it to be honest!! Haha! Have found a lovely green 4 seater for £300 that I have first refusal on which is in perfect condition, so I'm hoping that'll be the one!

What a bargain! I love the green ones. When I bought mine I had a green carpet so I bought a brown one, but now have moved I do look longingly at green ones!

Lavenderhoney · 18/12/2013 06:16

I has just the same question! Has anyone got any recommendations where to get one?

I bought a Duranti one on Ebay for a terrible sum of money. Unseen.

But I find it too deep, so when I lean against the back my feet are well off the floor.
