Farrow and Ball Paint- can I colour-match?

I've just priced up F&B paint for hall and landing and it's over £250 just for walls - can I colour match it with a cheaper paint, will it look ok?

Yes you can, most large decorating suppliers can do this but it wont have the chalky/flat finish of farrow and ball. That said I never use F&B anymore as I found the colours too depressing for my small house, better suited to large airy spaces.

I've had both farrow and ball and little Greene matched by a local paint merchants recently. I'm really pleased with the results, and while it doesn't have quite the same finish, I think it's pretty close which I'm happy to live with for a third of the price!

You can colour match and do your first coat in the cheaper paint and finishing coat in F & B to get that lovely chalkiness for a little less money.

I painted furniture myself using all farrow and ball but when the kitchen guy came to paint my kitchen he used a colour match and putting the two different paints together I cannot tell the difference. This was 5 years ago and they've both weathered very well and evenly.

I have. Not the same but happy with the results given I wanted a Dulux Endurance paint to resist the toddler.
