Time for a new sofa

We are about to take the plunge and get two new sofas to replace our very tired looking brown leather modular corner sofa. We have 3 kids aged 4, 8 and 10 and a dog and cat. Neither animals are allowed on the sofa and the kids are only allowed non messy food and only allowed drinks up to the coffee table with supervision, (I know it sounds strict, but we have a large kitchen diner they can trash!). I really don't want another leather sofa, but i can't decide on which fabric to choose from? Linen, brushed cotton, velvet, wool? If anyone has an experienced sofa owner opinion I would love to hear from you. We are currently looking at Loaf sofas and they are not scotch guarded, so ned to bear that in mind too! Many Thanks (smile)

We went to multiyork and paid a bit extra (maybe another hundred quid?) for guardsman protection - which means that they will come and clean off any spills or stains. And if they can't, replace the sofa. I felt a bit bad for the chap who had to scrub toddler vomit out of a cushion but he didn't bat an eyelid.
In retrospect i might not have chosen waffle-weave though!

We got our lovely Laura Ashley sofa if their villandry fabric also with guardsman protection. Bought at 30% sale time and also took out a Laura Ashley credit card to get the extra 10% which paid for the stain protection - then just paid it off. It is incredibly well built and nice having the reassurance that any spills etc will be fixed or replaced.
