Can you put a washing machine into a built-in cupboard?

... Or would this lead to the cupboard getting damp? Am thinking of plumbing it into a downstairs bathroom/ laundry room, hence would like to be able to neatly shut it away! Advice needed!

Our washing machine is in a cupboard, and the cupboard doesn't get damp.

I've seen lots of washing machines in cupboards in other people's houses too so I'd imagine it's not a problem. After all it's not like clouds of steam come out of the washing machine.

Ours is in a cupboard. It's brilliant, and no problems about damp or anything else.

Mine's in a cupboard, in the bathroom - a big cupboard, there's a shelf across the top of it for the tumble dryer, & also the boiler is next to the dryer (& its condensate pipe drains into the washer drain which is a bonus)

when an electrical appliance is in a bathroom it has to be hard-wired into a wall plate (not plugged in to a socket) & inaccessible to anyone in bath/shower

Ours is in built in cupboard too, no damp at all
