Colour for narrow hallway

Need to repaint hallway, i will emulsion the walls, have fairly new carpet which is dark brown and banisters are wooden, current colour is called liquor, which is a pale coffee colour and tend to be steering towards the same sort of colour as I'm at a loss as to what other colours I'm brave enough to try, any ideas??

I started a similar thread a few weeks ago and got some helpful replies.i had chosen Crown Cloudburst which is exactly the same as one of the gorgeous Little Greene grey range but they have just put a basecoat of white on and it looks perfect. It is a bit shadowy but I don't think the grey would improve that! We have a dado rail and I am putting Cole & son cow parsley in yellow below the rail so it won't be entirely white anyway.
