A question about 'feature wall'

I want to paint one wall in our bedroom a different colour - the rest is white.

As you walk into the room, bed is on right, windows opposite, fireplace to the right. I want to paint the large wall on left hand side where we have a chest of drawers. A block colour, no shit wallpaper, just to add colour to the room.

But are there 'rules' about which wall I should be painting?

Don't go by any rules people might tell you, it's your room so have it the way you want it. I'm not a fan of feature walls but you'll know the room better and know which wall would take the focus of colour best.
