Ikea Children's Furniture - Any Advice

We are looking at buying Ikea furniture for 2 girls (18 months and 6 months). Does anyone have any advice on what is practical/works well? We are considering white everything as it's easy to match. Looking at Trofast toy storage with the pull out plastic boxes as a way of trying to keep things "tidy". Any advice on mattresses . . . ?

We have a tall trofast unit and it is good to chuck my 6m DD's things in at the end of the day, in the boxes and on shelves. We have an ikea cot mattress, seems okay, couldn't really tell a difference between them all!

Trofast units are great, but if storage space is what you're after, it's worth considering Expedit. You can probably fit twice as much stuff in one of the canvas boxes that go with Expedit than you can in the largest Trofast tub.

My girls have all gone into the ikea kids beds at 17 months no problem. Can't remember the name it's the one with the dog and cat on the headboard. It's sturdy and gas lasted no problem for 3 girls. Also the side bar is easily swapped to either side if you change the room.

We used the sultan mattresses both for the cot and the beds. They last well and we've even washed the cot one in the machine. When we got bunk beds we bought ikea single mattresses, I can't remember the name but there's only a couple they make in the standard single size. They smelled a bit weird at first but are great apart from that.
My parents have the trofast. It seems fine and the boxes put up with a lot of abuse.

They both have a Koppang set of drawers and we have 2 sets of trofast units in pink and white, I love them all.

I bought the extendable mattress with the minnen bed, it's lovely think it was about £100 and bought one of the mid range cot mattresses that was about £25

We have the stuva wardrobes with drawers and they are fantastic!

My 3 have the stuva wardrobes with drawers - different colour doors per kid and wood drawers with the white frames. I think they look fantastic and really practical. The younger ones have one with 2 rails so can get 2 rows of (little) clothes in, then they have a pull out basket at the bottom for "on the go" clothes that have been worn once but don't need washed yet. the eldest had 2 wardrobes with one rail for his longer clothes, one with a basket at the top and one with a shelf.

I love the whole stuva range - think it looks great and coordinates well with other wood or white furniture. We have numerous billy bookshelves dotted around too.

Canvas box solutions are IMHO a pita. Yes they store a lot in therm but you have to pretty much empty the whole thing to get to anything. Suva range looks better than Trovit

We've got trofast storage ( quite a bit of it and find it great)

We have trofast storage, a white pax wardrobe, DS has the white bed with the sheep on the headboard, we also have a leksvik cot and a set of drawers. They are fab- sturdy and deep,can fit in loads.
I love ikea.

We have trofast storage units with a photo of the contents of each box stuck to the front (duplo, dolls, play food etc) so tidying is easy even for little ones who can't read. Dd1 has a desk, expedit shelves, both have ikea beds, dd2 has a child's table and chair set and everything was used in one country, dismantled, shipped from Asia to USA and reassembled, it's amazingly durable.
