What colour curtains?

We are moving into a new build flat this week and need to find some curtains for a window and French doors in the living room. I've never had to buy curtains until now so well and truly stuck!

The walls are white.
Carpet is a creamy colour.
Our sofa (when it arrives) is dark grey and we have a chair that's duck egg in colour.

I was thinking white curtains to blend in with the walls but DH screwed his nose up. He's as clueless as I am though.

Any ideas?

Is go for a stripe or pattern with the duck egg in so the room doesn't look to plain maybe curtains on the French door and a roman on the window

We've got these. They are light and cheerful but not over powering. I would try to get as many swatches as you can and look at them in the room. Wouldn't go for white.

Ok, off to look at patterned curtains now. We like a contemporary look so not overly keen on delicate florals if I'm honest. It's so difficult to picture how the room could look when we haven't got any of our furniture in place yet.
