Dining room thoughts, if you would.

Right chaps, I have a darkish dining room that's quite scruffy, so we're about to pimp it.

I'm thinking of Borrowed Light from Farrow and Ball for the walls, and I need to think about: fabric for reupholstering the Victorian style dining chairs, new pencil pleat curtains, possibly a bargain antique sideboard, wall lights, runner for table, some elegant accessorisation.

I am going for a very classy I-may-live-on-a-naff-housing-estate-but-fuck-it-let's-go-for-the-full-Downton look.

In the room there is also a walnut upright piano, antique glasses cabinet, wall mounted vintage wine rack from a Champagne house, some bookshelves around the piano painted in F&B Parma Gray, some antique map prints, and I've got a fair bit of crystal and silverware lying around to add to the ambience.

Sounds gorgeous. What colour fabric you thinking of?

sounds like a large room - lucky you!

I am a bit stuck on fabric actually. I still have children who furtively wipe their hands on the chairs when I am not looking, so perhaps I need a linen union or cotton that can be easily sponged clean. Also a new development - I got a quote today for repairing the table and chairs and it was so expensive I am now thinking of getting a proper antique set off EBay I will be a proper grown up then, won't I? Wink

Sounds lovely.. I like that look and painted in room mellow sage by crown with cream lamps and gold accessories.

Try TK max... Really worth waiting to see what you want .. I based the room on cushions fom there

I have been trawling through fabrics for months so will try to help if you need it. Keep us informed with what you decide to do!

Well, any suggestions as to fabrics that go with Borrowed Light?
