Nature/rural fabric search

I'm in a quandary about what to do with our living room, it doesn't really have a colour scheme as such and is really starting to irritate me (although that could be pregnancy related!!). We live in rural Scotland and I think it would be great to have nature/rural themed curtains to replace the very stark black watch plaid curtains we currently have on the huge front window (inherited from a previous house). Completely open to any colour/theme as we'll redecorate to coordinate if I find the right thing.

As an example I really like this fabric but not sure how the repeat will look on our 3m wide window

The house is a 1970's bungalow with oak floors/mantlepiece

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Thanks

Have a look at Vanessa Arbuthnot - lots of plants/animals etc but in soft tones with a contrast - I really like the fabric you have linked to but it doesn't give you many colours to play with as a starting point for a new colour scheme.

There are some lovely prints and embroideries in Sanderson too - google Squirrel and Dove for example.

If you are on more of a budget (sounds like your curtains may need to be huge) you can look through Prestigious Textiles catalogue with an online supplier - there are loads of prints in every size shape and colour - need a long slow evening for that job tho.

LOVE the Squirrel and Dove fabric, although I'm still concerned how it would look on a huge window. Also loving this Vanessa Arbuthnott fabric (have thing for lime green)

Thanks for the suggestions, will have a look at the Prestigious Textiles catalogue when I have some free time this weekend

ooh that VA is v nice - I think that must be a new collection as I don't know it.

PTextiles have improved their website a little - can't see prices but can get an idea of range at least. Try this or this

Oooh thanks for those links sinclair, I'm loving many of the fabrics in the Linden range, especially the Red/Autumn colours - which is helping me come up with a scheme for the whole project. You've been an amazing help, thanks!
