Lollipop bedroom for 5 year old....

butterfliesinmytummy · 17/08/2013 15:55

My dd has decided that she would like a lollipop / candy store themed bedroom for her birthday (we just moved house and her birthday is next month). I'm on the hunt for bedding, decals, bunting, cushions, anything (apart from actual lollipops) to decorate her room. We're in the US so international shipping is a must .... can't find anything here!

Have a look on Etsy, I just searched lollipop bedding an a few cute things came up. Sorry I cant link from the app.

There were a few decorations on there too. Mainly stuff for weddings/baby showers but im sure you could adapt it.

There are a few good ideas on Pinterest too.

Good luck!

something like this as a rug

youd have to ask someone to post it for you

What size bedding do you need?

Toddler, single or double I can find, with things like lollipops, cupcakes, ice cream cones, etc. if that would help

butterfliesinmytummy · 17/08/2013 16:49

Wow, thank you so much! Some lovely ideas, I always forget Etsy and love the wall decals.

I can't make anything at the moment as 3 weeks ago we hauled ourselves from Asia to the US and we have a gazillion things to do (plus I had to sell my sewing machine as it's 110V here and nothing electrical works - can't even being to think about buying another one at the moment).

Apparently it can't be cupcakes as dd1 had cupcakes in her room before - although I do love that rug.... My dad would post stuff on if I can have something delivered to the UK.

Thanks again, will keep looking!

Ok, I have a couple of other ideas then!

lollipop bedding

what about candy stripe bunting, and iron on lollipops (theres a load of both about)!

inneedofrain · 17/08/2013 17:14

ok don´t know if you would have the time for this!

But what about painting the walls a plain colour ie pink and adding lolliepops or candy (fake ones)
Use a large foam disk found at craft stores as the base, and paint it with stripes or swirls to create the desired look. A large wooden dowel creates the stick of the sucker. Use clear cellophane wrap around the disk for the wrapper. Leave the disk without the stick to create round disk candies

OOOHHH just found these!

candy bar pillows

similar to above

Seriously buy a sewing machine, all the wonderful patch work fabric we have in the UK is imported from the USA.

I'd do a mixture of soft candy pink, violet, lemon and soft green, plain, stripped and checked, with the odd lolly pop sticker, cushion, bed cover. Sweet themed stationary should be possible, ring binders, box files etc.

Then if she decides lolly pops are babyish and wants flowers, butterflies or simply the plain bits as a back drop to the latest boy band, it's easy to do.

I stencilled fairy on the walls and DD2 is stuck with them as they took weeks.

butterfliesinmytummy · 17/08/2013 17:44

Love the lollipop bedding but its out of stock! Love the candy bar pillows, added to basket!

I will buy a sewing machine starballbunny but at the moment I'm trying to sort out a new life in a new country. I do sew and once the kids are at school I will start exploring fabric shops again.

I think you're right and that with the candy bar pillows, decals etc I can get away with non theme bedding. We used to live in rental property so have a thing for decals - you can just change them when you want and they lift off pretty easily...

I can see the problem, just jealous of you for living where all the fun fabrics come from. I have stuff I've imported from the states.

Good luck in your new home.

butterfliesinmytummy · 17/08/2013 18:03

I know, I used to scour etsy for US based fabrics Grin
