Anyone done wallpaper in the bathroom?

I've been told there is a special wall paper for the bathroom, I'm wondering if anyone has used it and if it has worked well? I'm abit concerned about it peeling.

My bathroom walls are in a state and either need to be tiled, plastered or wall papered. And I have seen some nice bathroom wall papers.

I would tile the part where the bath-shower will be.

All ideas welcome Grin

Me, I have. It's worked out great. I can't remember if I bought special paper (and I only did it four months ago). No peeling, but it's a large bathroom so doesn't really get steamed up. Shower and bath area are tiled. I did use a strng adhesive though.

I have, but it wasn't the special bathroom stuff because I didn't really like any of the patterns. We have a big bathroom though and I papered the side farthest from the bath/shower. I used the paste-the-wall-stuff which is slightly textured as the wall was in a state - it looks really nice.

It was this one but I think they have lots of other patterns.

the people who lived here before us. tasteless IMO and boring to scrape off.

Thank you both for the repies :)

what style of property have you both got? Are they period properties? Mine is and I think wallpaper in the bathroom looks good in older style properties.

My bathroom isnt very big and it is narrow so I'm wondering if wall paper will make it look small.

I am thinking something like this second one down (white)

or like something like this

poocatcher - do you think its tasteless depending on the type of wall paper used? Also even though you didnt like it, did it stay on the walls well? :)

I'm thinking a white wallpaper would be better for a small bathroom maybe? But I like the idea of black and white.

Ours is a 250 year old cottage with lots of old stripped wood. I like both those links but prefer the first I think. If it is a small room then I think the lighter would be better perhaps?

Take a sample of it (rip a couple of bits off from a roll in store somewhere) and stick it on the wall in a couple of different places. That might help you decide.

rubbishfamily333 · 08/08/2013 21:21

I also think the lighter would be better Grin

I am really starting to like the idea of wallpaper in the bathroom :)

Mine is an old house too, sloping ceiling, wooden beams in the bathroom. I went for stripes in mine, and papered because I couldn't afford to get everything tiled, but I love it, it looks great.

In a smaller space I'd go for the lighter too.

rubbishfamily333 · 09/08/2013 18:01

This is the thing, I don't think I can afford to tile the while bathroom either!

I don't actually know anyone that has papered a bathroom, so hopefully mine will look amazing and really stand out Wink

And the best thing about paper of course is when you get bored you just strip it and put something else up there.

poocatcherchampion · 10/08/2013 06:27

sorry to be slow to come back. yes it did stay well (....too well...) and the finish is fine.

pattern gross of course but you can't have everything.
personally I think paint looks fresher in a bathroom but that's only my opinion and I can't see why others might not do it. probably it is more likely to steam off etc in a smaller room I guess.

I once saw this one in a small bathroom and it looked great!!

I did a downstairs loo in black & white slightly embossed paper. Looks ok but needs lots of bright colours to lift it up.

I have two wallpaper samples up.whilst I mull it over, one is black and white bicycles, the other is red, blue and grey beach huts which would be great with the shipdeck flooring I have.
