What brand paint for a quick revamp?

We're moving in to our new home in a month !

It's clean and neat but was last decorated in 1982, and we want to whizz round all of the rooms over the wallpaper in a neutral colour so we have some time and headspace to think about proper decoration.

What paint should we buy? I've seen Wickes trade paint recommended on here but it has appalling reviews on their website. We want value for money (and time) as we plan to redecorate properly over the next five years. We plan to live in the house for the next 20 years or so all being well .

well we have been really surprised with Wilkinson own brand one coat (or whatever they call it) and also Homebase own paint.

Our decorator always uses Dulux Trade or Glidden paint and says it covers so much better that others are a false economy.

Thanks viper - we were primarily looking at Wickes or Dulux Trade as we'd heard good things.

I've just used Wilkinson own after a recommendation on here. It was great, cheap as anything, covered easily and the colours are nice. A good depth of pigment too. have always used dulux before but I wouldn't go back to it.

I used johnsons paint which i got in the range - cheap and cheerful and excellent coverage. i used their ivory spray throughout downstairs its nice and neutral and a good alternative to cream/magnolia.

The very next day after we moved in our house we went and bought a job lot of homebase paint in Putty. Like you we needed to clean it up and just think about what we will do with each room. The only room we have changed so far is the hall but we are working on the rest :)
