Looking to buy my first new sofa having lived with family cast offs until now. Decent quality and reasonable prices or a good sale would be great.

Our sofas came from LA sale 8 years ago and are still going strong despite DC climbing on them for the last 5 years.

I have bought 2 from Tesco direct now. I have been really pleased with the quality and have had a lot of comments on how nice they are - people are always surprised when I say they are from Tesco. My friend has one from asda direct and that is fine too. Considerably cheaper than m and s, etc.

HazeltheMcWitch · 28/07/2013 18:15

I've bought form sofa.com and was very happy indeed.
Also, my IKEA sofas have been really good value.

BackforGood · 28/07/2013 18:18

I'm probably no help to you - I'd start my search in the British Heart Foundation Cahrity Shop - they have some cracking suites in there but they are 2nd hand for minimal prices.

KatoPotato · 28/07/2013 18:20

SofaSofa were great. Classic styles at good prices.

CoTananat · 28/07/2013 18:22

Made.com - the customer service is completely shit but the sofas are great - very good price, design, build quality.

I like the look of Loaf as well. Agree that Laura Ashley is great quality. IKEA I find too low; I think it's only for little people.

BikeRunSki · 28/07/2013 18:29

Ikea Stockholm range is their "finest" range, and generally higher and deeper than the rest.

BikeRunSki · 28/07/2013 18:30

SofaSofa, that' s the other shop I was thinking of.

lljkk · 28/07/2013 18:47

I don't think I will ever buy a new sofa. Must feel very grown up!

Tommy · 28/07/2013 18:50

we bought our first brand new sofas (after 15 years together!) recently - we got them from Ikea. Really comfortable and very reasonable

Mamab33 · 28/07/2013 18:55

Thank you. This is a nice way to spend a Sunday evening afterall! Choosing a colour feels like a huge decision. Fabric or leather? High back or low?

Thank you for your guidance. I'm wondering if it is brave or silly to buy sofas without trying them out first!
