I am arranging for my sons bedroom to be redecorated while we are away in August, and I'm going round in circles trying to find some affordable toy storage. He is 4 and really into superheroes so he has lots of little figures and cars that need sorting out! I like the look of the IKEA stuff but I don't drive so I can't get to one, and it seems that a lot of their stuff can't be ordered online, so you can buy the shelving but not the cubes that go in it etc which is annoying. His bed and chests of drawers are a reddy brown wood from IKEA but I can't link as they don't seem to do that range any more. Has anyone got any recommendations for good sturdy toy storage? Ideally I would like a couple of units rather than lots of seperate toy boxes IYKWIM. THANKS!

We have the Ikea Expedit and lots of Drona boxes £2.50 each. The boxes are available online for delivery.

The boxes are a size that the DC can pick them up and deep enough that they hold lots.

Have you tried ebay for the colour of units you want?

Thanks Mid. I did look at those and you can order the black k boxes online but not the blue or yellow. Why???? Didn't think of eBay so I will have a look there. Expedition looks good, is it quite sturdy?

We have lots of the ikea trofast storage if that's available for home delivery. We have a mix of shelves and different sizes of tubs which works well for various sizes of toys - the drawer sized tubs are good for figures etc. If you were able to get to an ikea by public transport, you can organise home delivery in store but it can be expensive if you live far away.

Oh fan...lots of Drona on eBay...looks like I may get what I need! Trofast looks good too though...hmmmm

The expedits are very sturdy. They come with wall clips so you can pin them back to the wall. Ikea were offering all the box colours online a few months back. I wonder if as its sale and new catalogue time stocks are low so they're temporarily offline.

Most of the wooden storage units from Ikea and other places fit box/baskets etc that are 30cm by 30cm. You can pick up canvas tubs in B&M bargains, Matalan sometimes with these dimensions. Just a thought if you can' t get what you want on eBay this was a unit I picked up from B&Q and the tubs were from one of the pound shops

Trofast is also pretty sturdy, if you're looking at that still. I got it specifically because the drawers were good for little figures which DS is obsessed with.

Thank you everyone. i think i have decided on Expedit and will either get the boxes from ebay but will have a look at B&M and matalan first. thanks for the tipMaeve!
