Accent colour needed to add interest to a brown and cream kitchen

Just that really. The work surface is dark wood, the unit fronts are glossy cream. The walls and splash back will also be cream. We prefer simple and minimalist, but I'm looking for a colour to add a bit interest. So far thinking teal or a duck egg blue.

ours is pale cream units and dark wood worktop too. Pale stone floor. We have a pale olive green on one wall, olive from b and q. I have a few olive green bits and bobs and also a dusky pink jug that goes nicely.

Thank you for your replies, this has given me something to think about!

Turquoise? Goes with most colours.

Burgundy/red goes well with both those colours.

Thank you once more. We have a fair bit of turquoise in the next room, but I'm unsure whether that means I want it again in the kitchen or not(!). I'm not keen on pink, although I agree that it would work nice.

I like a deep red but I can't picture it with this colour scheme, I'll go and have a google...

Orange would work - but could look a bit 70s if you aren't careful.

HerRoyalNotness · 08/07/2013 18:01

I was going to suggest Orange as well. Or yellow? Where will you add the colour? In accessories only? Try a few in different colours, and take back the ones you don't like/don't work.

I love orange and already use it in the living room.

I'm a bit anti-clutter but think the accent colour will be with new teatowels and pots for herbs.
