Warm living room colours

Moved in to our new house in Nov last year and are beginning to finally getting around to decorating. It's a 1930s detached but it is quite a cold house so need ideas to warm it up.

Doing our living room and downstairs bedroom first. Ripping our yucky reproduction fireplace and installing a log burning stove with an oak mantle which matches our oak unit and side tables and we have large brown sofas. Any ideas, it's a blank canvas as all white and will be freshly plastered?

The window is a rectangle bay with 2 large front windows and smaller at the sides, radiatior is under the window and our largest sofa fits in the recess. Any ideas for window dressings? Currently some very badly fitted roller blinds which leave a huge gap between them and aren't that cosy.

In the bedroom I have grey accessories but need a warmer wall colour/wallpaper and carpet ideas? Currently wooden flooring down which makes it colder feeling too.

Any help much appreciated!

I am a curtain girl myself. Don't like blinds, think they are cold.

Our room is a dark cream with a mustardy, golden yellow on chimney breast. We just took Victorian colours from one of those paint cards (can't remember which one).

I would start with the things you are keeping, any pictures, sofa, lamps, furniture and go from there. Personally, I am not one for red/ purple etc. living rooms, but I know some people like them. I would rather have a medium to light colour and accessorize with dark wood furniture.

Sorry, just read the accessories properly!

You need this

Try autumn first for inspiration, then click on a colour block that you are drawn to, to find more collections including that colour

Take your time, and try to be very selective in your downloading, or you'll get buried under "spoilt for choice" Grin

What about the feature wall colour card. Dulux? (or google.) I find a warm, deep tone of a bold feature wall warms the room up. I loved the Autumn red/warm terracotta colours.

Ooh thank you all! Will sit in my cold living room with hubby later and look through links!
