sofabed vs decent inflatable bed

So, we have a fab sofa in the office but we really need a guest bed. We have two choices, sell the existing very nice comfy sofa and buy a sofabed or buy an inflatable mattress and keep the sofa?

So any suggestions?

We bought a v decent air bed (one of the ones that are full height) and it's v comfy. Plus a sofa bed isn't as comfy as a regular sofa.

Who are the guests? Inflatable mattresses are pretty grim, but OK for kids. Many of the decent sofabeds (ie comfy for sleeping) are not that great for sitting on!

Our sofa bed is very comfy to sleep on and sit on, we went around trying lots. Means you don't have to store an inflatable mattress.

Good air beds can be really comfortable. I'd much rather sleep on one of those than a creaky sofa bed

I'm staying at my mums at the moment and am currently reclined feeding dd2 on one of those double, normal height blow up mattresses that you plug in & it inflates. It's AMAZING. Looks & feeling like a normal bed. I've definitely slept on far less comfortable sofa beds & beds for that matter too. No idea how much it cost or how big it is deflated though...

Just looked and the one I'm on is an Intex one.

Katz · 26/06/2013 19:38

Thanks helebear will have a look. The problem we've found with sofabeds is they're not very long only 183cm which is just 6ft. It will mainly be adult guests in couples. We tried a couple in JohnLewis but whilst the sofas were ok the beds weren't.

We've been borrowing a double mattress and putting it in the floor but that's not a long term solution.

Loler - where's your sofabed from?

From here - www.darlingsofchelsea.co.uk/sofa_beds.asp?gclid=CNDqwZnehrgCFavHtAodSTQAWQ

Don't know how long it is but folded out it's about the same length as our bed.

We've got an aerobed (about £100 on offer Shock) which folds small enough to store under our bed, inflates/deflates in 2 mins & is really comfortable (best with a normal mattress protector). Highly recommend it

Thanks both. Shall have a look, I'm tempted to go air bed to start and if its a disaster then look into a sofa bed.

The aerobeds are really comfortable - my dh is 6'3 and large and we sleep comfortably on our camping one.

Katz · 28/06/2013 22:09

Aerobed it is then! Is it worth getting the raised one?

I would as it all helps lose the feeling of naff inflatable Grin
