what wardrobes do you recommend?

we are moving from a fitted wardrobe house to a no wardrobe house so need to buy at least one for the master bedroom and one for the babies' room. I know pax is an obvious solution and has its benefits but I don't want a totally IKEA house so want to check other options (that aren't MDF or plastic wood).

we don't have megabucks but we could save if need be..

thanks!

Second-hand/antique shops often have nice wardrobes without blowing the budget.

watching with interest because we are in the same position

If you are buying the house could you get wardrobes fitted? Find a local carpenter to do it, the cost may not be a great deal more than buying depending on where you live.

If renting, you can get good deals on gum tree. We found some ok wardrobes there. New and already assembled.

I bought a large antique wardrobe on ebay for under 200... lots of bargains out there if that's the kind of thing you'd like.

I'm thinking antique ones from eBay / Gumtree but we don't want to pay loads for delivery of course!

we have not seen any fitted ones we like..
