Need a desk in a tight space

Now that our baby has arrived, we need to convert our study into a nursery. This means we need to squeeze a desk into our living room. It needs to have space for two monitors, fit into an already full room and not look ugly: anyone got any recommendations?! I am stumped...

Make one. Do you have an alcove? We've just made our understairs into a study!

We used a piece of the kitchen worktop we'd just ripped out (that helped!) and I recovered it to match the shelf above (which I also covered using fablon type stuff).

It looks fab! Look at some storage solutions on Pinterest and ikea etc to give you inspiration to make a small space work as an office.

I think I would probably try and squeeze them into your bedroom somehow. Or could you divide the study into two and have half as a nursery and half as a study? Apart from a cot and a storage unit babies don't take up much room!

Could you build a built in cupboard thing along the smallest wall and hide a desk in there? I saw something like that in the latest Living Etc. Open up the doors et voila - desk, shelves and stuff! You could even make it a drop leaf desk to keep it really slimline

would put the office aspect in the bedroom or could it possible in the kitchen if there is a table or counter top you could use. It depends if the computers need to stay there or are portable.

Thanks everybody. There is space in the bedroom but my partner tends to work after I've gone to bed, so trying to avoid that option! Half nursery, half study could work, will give that some thought.

Am not very handy but my partner is so home-made desk might be possible. Thanks also horseonabeach, will check out the link.

something like this but a bit bigger - you can fit an office in a cupboard really well if you have the right storage solutions!

Watching with interest as DH is currently moving his office to our walk in wardrobe for same reason.
My main ( selfish) concern is that I won't actually ever be able to get to my clothes again...
