We have a super king size Tosca bedstead with a low foot - kind of like this but with a slightly more elaborate head end

Fickle as I am, I want to change it to look like a different bed, and was wondering if anyone could suggest whether if I buy for example an upholstered headboard, would it slot in behind the mattress in any plausible way? Also, I would put a valance around the bottom and maybe give it a bit more of a plush kind of look. Could it work??
