Pedestal mats - good idea or naff idea

We are about to sell our flat and we want to put in new mats in our bathroom. We need two and I can't decide about whether to have a pedestal mat or not.
Lots of mats come in sets of two and include a pedestal mat. Is the general consensus that these are naff or are they ok?

Naf and unhygienic.

Remind me of the sets with a matching fluffy thing to go over the loo seat lid and a lady in a dress that fits over the toilet roll
