Painting from photograph?

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread but...

There's a very special birthday coming up in my family and I wanted to get an old photograph turned into a painting. Have done a bit of a google but it didn't turn up anything quite right.
Had anyone had this done and could recommend someone?

You could try googling your area and 'local artists' and see if any do commissions.
Or go to a local art show or gallery and ask.
