Help with a period but not dated look

We live in an early Victorian house and are currently redecorating the master bedroom. We want it to be period in style - possibly Georgian rather than Victorian but not sure what to do so it still looks fresh and modern but in keeping with the house. So can anyone advise specifically on walls, floors and soft furnishings. Any links particularly welcome. I know what I like when I see it but I'm rubbish at working it out from scratch. Thank you!

We've just decorated our master bedroom (inbetween getting lovely upvc sash windows & before we get shutters!).

Taken out the ugly fitted wardrobes (before we knew what to replace with!). Have a fireplace chimney breast which we have to work round too. In the alcove nearest the window we've put floor-to-ceiling shelves, on the chimney breast we've got this:

and in the alcoves/wall opp the chimney we've got Crown Classic Duck Egg & the other 2 walls are Crown Palladian.

Have got on order triple wardrobe & 2 chest of drawers in distressed pine - have a vintagey look about them but unable to get pic to show what their like.

Ultimate will be to have a bed knobs & broomstick style king size bed.... My problem is trying to work out what to get bedding wise (don't do matchy matchy, but don't feel I get clashing prints right either!).

That's great thank you, love the wallpaper I find it so hard to envisage what things will be like when they're finished!

I don't know if ours would help you or not but we bought a walnut triple wardrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers and a small cupboard from a second hand shop. Got it reasonably priced as it is too big for modern houses and as we bought the whole set.

We bought a wooden sleigh bed and bedside tables which, although mahogany effect, go well as they are not next to each other. Walls are Craig & Rose 1829 Pale Oak. Curtains and bedding contain similar beiges and duck egg blue.

The overall effect is very traditional and comfortable but not old-fashioned.

I will have a look in some local second hand shops for furniture. Do you think a light green would work with gold picking out in the soft furnishings? I love duck egg but spare room is that colour and think we should try something different for ours.
