Has anyone successfully cut the Ikea net curtains?

You know the super-cheap plain ones that can be cut to size and don't need hemming? Every time I try they end up wonky. I think it is because they are so wide.

Any tips gratefully received!

I have cut the net ones and cotton ones from Ikea. I just used the edge of my kitchen table for a straight edge. I used wonderweb to hem it, put a pillow case over the fabric to iron it so it won't burn
