Metro tiles

I have just ordered a new kitchen- almond high gloss with walnut coloured worktops. My husband is keen to use a duck egg colour metro tile? Anyone else got these sort of tiles? And if not, would they put you off a kitchen? Our house is modern family home.

I like them, they look classic. Also don't think they will date like splash backs will.

Oh good! I am just ordering some samples! Fired earth have lovely pale blue ones but they are expensive!

Look at tons of tiles website, they have some almost the same as fired earth but loads cheaper

We are about to change the tiles in our kitchen and I want to go for metro tiles. I think they look both vintage and modern at the same time if that makes sense. Duck egg blue sounds lovely with your new kitchen.

About to go on website ellangirl recommended for some ideas for us. Mind you anything would be an improvement on the 70's beige with brown flowers we have now

I have found that website, it looks really good! I would love to be adventurous and go for a bold colour but don't want to put potential buyers off if we were to sell!

Are metro the same as subway tiles?

They look fab. We had the cream Fired Earth ones in our old house and they still looked great 10 years later and everyone said they looked fab. Didn't go with them in the new house as we were trying to save money and I let DH pick the tiles. I bitterly regret it. Am now weeping into my tea and calculating when I can afford to retile the kitchen. Good tiles make a kitchen.

We've used white metro tiles in last house and this, love them!

I've seen some lovely kitchens with metro tiles and different coloured grouting.

I've just had mine done with cheapy cream metro tiles and dark grey grout, it looks really good and IMHO makes a bargain basement kitchen look pretty classy. And the builder said "it looks like a showroom in here now!"
