Pale blue living room?
TarkaTheOtter · 10/01/2013 18:33
Think I want to paint living room a pale blue (greyish blue) colour. Is this a strange colour for a living room? We have white leather and walnut (modernish) habitat sofas and white melamin with walnut legged table. Will it go?
The house is newish with white wiodwork. We have a very original f&b french grey kitchen and magnolia/dirty off white hallway on the same floor. Would also like to repaint hallway....
Help me colour scheme experts please!!

Mine used to be blue/grey. It was lovely. Pretty, light and cool.

Do it! We've just done ours pale blue and at least 5 people have asked us for the paint details. We've accessorised with white and it's all very calming.

It sounds a little cold to me, TBH. But you've got a couple of others here who reckon it works. Go for it. (It won't take much to re-paint if you hate it).

Currently in the process of painting half of our downstairs rooms (interlinking) Parma Grey, which is a blue grey but warm, not cool.

Lulworth blue is a richer blue, but still a very pretty colour (not bedroom-y which was a worry).

Thanks for all the advice. I was a bit worried it would be a bit cool too. We'll hopefully move in a few years so it's a bit of a leap of faith moving away from the boring-but-safe magnolia that the previous owner used throughout. We are both awful at painting so will probably get someone in to do it so feel like I've got to get it right first time.

VerityClinch I like the look of Parma Gray online, not sure why I didn't spot it on the colour card. We were thinking Slipper Satin for the hall and I think they go well together. Lulworth Blue looks good too but is probably a bit dark for us.

If my builders pull their fingers out this week and actually manage to get some paint on the walls, I'll send you a photo!
We've never lived in the house, it's a total project/building site so all the colours I've picked are a bit of a gamble, but after years of living in beige houses I wanted to inject some colour this time round.
