Good price for carpet?

Do you think £1000 is good to carpet a whole house? We are only getting better quality carpet in the lounge and on the stairs, the rest is the cheapest stuff they have. We are also only getting the lounge and stairs fitted, we are going to do the bedrooms and dining room ourselves.

I thought it was a realistic reasonable price, my DH thinks its more than he wants to pay.

Depends how many rooms and what size? We just paid £220 for our bedroom with fitting, the room is aprox 4x4m

We have just had a quote for two sets of stairs, two bedrooms, two long halls for £1035 - fully fitted. It is for polypropylene but the best quality & really nice striped stair carpet. I thought we should have gone with a wool mix but everywhere I went they seemed to say not to bother as the polypropylene ones are just as good - feel wise & at least we can deep clean if needed ( with kids) etc!
