Ivory Kitchen -What Colour Walls ?

Looking for some freebie interior design courtesy of Mumsnet.......

So wise ones, what Colour shall I Paint my Kitchen walls ?

I've Just ordered a Ivory shaker Kitchen,Wood worktops & upstands,peweter handles and I have a black range cooker with splash back and Hood.

Think I'm not going to have tiles on the walls,would that be a mistake ?

With the black range and splashback as well, you could go with a light coffee colour (sort of v.milky latte) as long as it had the same undertone as the ivory. Probably best to use an eggshell or other washable finish if you're not having tiles on the walls.

Hadn't thought of a coffee ish colour,but I quite like the idea, I was originally thinking of that grey/green colour,but lighter (if such a colour exists).

Are you my DP ? That sounds like our new kitchen which is being fitted as we speak ! We looked at tiles, and although we saw some lovely ones I was thinking of going without. Probably as the previous owner had a love of horrid tiles ! But I fancy a bit more colour - something warm-ish.

how about farrow and ball borowed light or light blue both look more blue than it looks on screen then you could have warm accents like orange /sand/red

ggirl that looks good, I like the idea of that, especially with orange.

We've got an ivory set of units with black appliances and wood(effect)counters. The walls are olive, looks really nice.

Mayihave which shade/ brand of olive do you have ?

scrubable matt emulsion, B&Q "colours" olive green. Not being original,I saw it in the instore catalogue.
One thing, the kitchen has a lot of natural light and spot lights for evening time, so the kitchen doesnt look dowdy.

my kitchen is ivory, with a black range cooker/worktops
we have wimbourne white walls,
shaded white is a nice light grey/green colour

My friend has the same, but black aga, and has grey walls. The grey is a lilac/grey and it works well.

I'm shortly having a white shaker kitchen fitted - black laminate work tops and upstand, black induction hob, white enamel sink, grey floor tiles. Three walls will be a neutral off white colour and one wall will be an oxblood red colour . Can't wait!

We have ivory units, stainless steel oven and off-white walls - Dulux Timeless, in "Kitchens and Bathrooms" finish. Think we had to get it especially mixed in K&B base.

I love oxblood red - That was going to be my original colour choice - You can actually Take the front door fascias off my rangemaster oven and DH has a friend that owns a commercial paint spraying business and I reckon that a oxblood range cooker would look stunning !

ive got chapel stone by johnstones in my bedroom ands a beautiful warm colour which sounds like it would be nice in your kitchen. if i had a kitchen like you describe id go for light sky blue.

Good article about using (oxblood) red in decorating here. The shade I'm after is the same as in pic 8. There's a picture of an oxblood red range in there too

I share people's ideas as my initial thought was 'sage/moss' or a coffee colour. Personally I would tile halfway up, like work top to bottom of wall units, and cooker hob to hood.

My kitchen is almost exactly as yours is. I have 3 walls off white so just a bit lighter than the ivory and the other a deep olivey colour, think it is F&B Mouses Back

Wow, I thought I was original with my kitchen but we all seem to have the same one !!

Walls are F & B String and chimney breast is "overtly olive" (crown or dulux). I think it looks nice and warm looking without being too dark. Hope this helps.

I've cream units and black granite countertop. Walls pale cream too. I add colour with flowers. Done for many years and still looks fresh.

We have a cream kitchen with orange walls! It looks fantastic! When the light is on, on the cooker, it gives off a sunrise effect. Not for everyone, granted, by I love it!
