Carpets ????

We are considering put carpet down as our floorboards are sooooo cold and draughty!
I would be carpeting on sitting room, hall(only way into our house)stairs and landing.
I really want cream carpets. Would this be completely stupid ? How about if the carpet is stain resistant? Or such like ?
Opinions please....

I wouldn't put cream carpet in the hall unless you put a rug in it, even though I love cream carpet.

I have cream carpet throughout, and even though we are strictly no-shoes-indoors it was ruined within 12 months. Would only have it in bedrooms in future

Go for something slightly 'flecky' that isn't all one uniform colour. It will be more forgiving than a totally plain colour. Personally I wouldn't have cream; it would take too much looking after.
