Family Holiday in February - suggestions

Is there anywhere I can go in Jan/Feb that isn't either cold or a very long flight?

Have considered Oman, but it would take 9hrs to get there. Dubai is 7 hrs (& I'm not sure I like the look of it - too Las Vegas for me) and Sharm, but not sure if it would be warm enough in Jan. Ditto the Canaries. Has anyone been to Sharm or other Red Sea resorts in Jan/Feb?

We would be travelling with a 19mth old, so not keen on a long flight for only a weeks holiday. We also have 2 older children 4 & 6.

Want somewhere with good hygiene standards, where you don't have to take malaria tablets.

Don't want much do I?

About to ask almost this very thing! More likely to be Jan, and also thinking of Sharm or poss Gran Canaria - too cold? Would be travelling with a 14mth old.

Anyone??...

Hey, me too. will be watching this thread. We have been to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote over Christmas and it was really warm. We were in the pool and sunbathing every day. But it is a risk as some years it has apparently been quite cold. Not sure of the answer - will be interesting to see what people say. Dubai is very nice by the way - not Las Vegas at al imo and the standards of service are wonderful. Having said that, you probably wouldn't want to venture out too much as the drivers are so fast and I would be too wary of taking the little ones out too much. Perhaps we should all move to Oz ; )

Mmmm I was told that the Canaries just had a really bad Jan/Feb - and a cold, wet beach holiday would be a bit grim! Dubai is a bit of a long flight really & significantly more expensive than Egypt. Still wondering.....

Went to tenerife mid feb last year - it wasn't boiling, but it was pleasantly warm most of the time. Probably need to go further to be sure of warm weather though.

Hi folks.
I live and have a childcare buisness in Tenerife.

Last december was around 28 degrees, verrrrry hot for that time of year.
Normally between Dec-March is hovers around 15/16 degrees at night and between 22/26 degrees in the day which is still not too bad, not roasting hot but very plesant and definatley enough to get a cracking tan!!!

If you would like persional recommendations on hotels i will be glad tohelp as i have worked in so many on the island i am sure i could recommend something for everyones needs.

Also, any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Lisa.
