Calling all seasoned France- travellers. Is there a travel lodge equivalent (or more importantly a £26 a room offer equivalent)? Thinking ahead to next Summer, we might like to slowly wind our way down South, stopping at one or two places and would like reasonable and clean family accomodation.

TIA

Oooh, there was a thread about this a bit ago with lots of recommendations (NOT Formule 1!), I'll try to find it for you

Ponders · 05/07/2010 15:39

here you go

It was asking about Formule 1, all previous users said DON'T!!!

Here's another. I havent used so this isnt a recommendation just information!

www.villages-hotel.com/prestations.php?i_sid=1406665323&i_lang=44

Stayed in this one once a while back, they were fine:

www.bonsai-hotels.fr/

All of these hotels including listed by others above are great for an overnight stop but dont expect anything that could be called atmosphere. Also, you will need to book. Nothing sadder than seeing families being turned away because all the hotels are complet (full).

If you would like a little bit of a genuine experience then an alternative would be:

www.logishotels.com/

They will cost a little more but will be a lot more authentic and most have restaurants. You could have a couple of cheap nights and a more expensive one.

As a general rule avoid French hotels which dont have a website. Nearly all do and the French practically invented the internet with Prestel so there is no excuse!

I hope you have a lovely time.

Thanks so much; I'll have a trawl through those.
