Staying in Slough - what to do?

Should we go to Windsor or does Slough have anything to offer - 2 adults and a 5 yr old. Want parks, river trip perhaps

Betjeman couldn't have put it better:

"Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough,
It isn't fit for people now"

Seriously, go to Windsor - 10 minutes and a million miles away!

Windsor is fab quite arguably my favourite place in the whole of England!

Slough shopping isn't too bad but not aware of any sightseeing there exactly ....!

They've got a fab new library, definitely worth a wander round
very good multiplex right in the middle if town near the high street
good shopping and eating

We where in slough last week we did four nights at the Marriott on our way back from france. We did loads, day in windsor take a picnic to the Long walk great for running around etc looked at teh castle, did not take DCs but fun to see, Changing of the guard at teh Castle is great and free, we did the short river cruise which was fun, you can use Tesco vouchers for one of the firms I think. We went into London for one day, very fast train and not £££ went to see dinasors and did a bus trip. Our main reason to go was lego land as DS is very into Lego (dh was too really ) !! there are also alot of lovely places nearby Hampton court and other places on the river. We had a great time we did not really go into Slough itself but the was a fab base for a great area we had a lovely time and would go back ! Hope you enjoy your break.

Slough is not pretty

Windsor nicer but very touristy and overpriced, Maidenhead might be a better place to stay.

That stretch of the Thames is nice - Bray, Cookham, Marlow, Henley etc. Hire a boat if you can. Lovely park in Marlow by the river. Legoland in Windsor. Crazy golf by river in Maidenhead.

In the words of my DH
"What to do in Slough? Get OUT!" But then he went on to say the highlight of his trips there was deep-fried mars bars from the chippy

Windsor is lovely though!

Staying in Slough - top yourself now. Windsor, Marlow, Henley very nice. Thorpe Park not so far away.
