'different' hotel in york for me and dh

We're planning a couple of nights in york at end of august, just the two of us 'whooppee'. We know york quite well but have usually had children with us and gone for cheap and cheerful hotel as spent most of time out and about. This time we may spend more time in hotel and so looking for something nice and a bit different! Any suggestions please?

friends stayed here after their wedding. it's very central.

The most haunted hotel in the world/uk/somewhere is meant to be in York. My mum stayed there as a birthday gift one year. Some strange things happened like doors opening on their own and noises she couldn't explain but she didn't actually see anything. She was very disappointed.
