Where for October half term?

We are trying to book a week away for the October break, we don't want to fly more than 5 hours.

We want somewhere that will be warm enough for DD's (7&5) to be able to use the pools.

Hotel preferred 4*, £2500 budget.

Anyone help?

I am trying to do thesame. I have been told so far - cyprus, sardinia,corsica,crete. I cant decide.

Anyone have experience of Madeira?

Crete is lovely, we stayed at Sensatori resort last year

most mediterranean countries will still be pleasantly warm in mid october (although may be a bit of cloud/rain/changeable weather some days). our faves are crete, canaries, corsica, southern italy and islands (sicily and sardinia). cheap and very warm breaks to tunisia at this time of year
