Legoland have started charging for car parking. Current cost is £1 per car. Annual Pass owners get parking Free - scan pass at parking barrier.

Bloody cheek - as if it's not expensive enough!

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 27/06/2010 21:34

That is really grasping- it is already so expensive.

blametheparents · 27/06/2010 21:39

Guess they make quite a bit of money from it.

I was surprised when I went to Florida that all the parks charge for parking, around $12 a day. Let's hope Legoland doesn't get that epensive!

what is public transport like to it?

tbh i can see why they're doing it... to try and deter people from using cars to get there. it's hell driving through windsor these days

nannynick · 27/06/2010 22:46

There is the shuttle bus, though I can't seem to find out how much it costs. The venue isn't really possible to get to from many locations via public transport. Families are not that likely to Car Share (unlike teenagers going to Thorpe Park who probably car-share to save on transport costs - I certainly did as a teenager, plus most of us couldn't drive!).

I doubt it's for environmental reasons... Merlin charges for parking at Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and now Legoland. It's a way to make money from infrequent visitors. Frequent visitors have the annual pass, so get parking for free.

I do wonder who spends more in-park though... as an annual pass holder I don't tend to spend that much in-park. Whereas infrequent visitors probably do buy a fair bit. Though that's just an impression I get... no data to back it up.

Thats outrageous! I'm an annual pass holder, but even so, do they want to lose customers?

My DD is still upset about their pulling down the jungle coaster so they can build an hotel!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 28/06/2010 10:58

DS is furious about pulling down the jungle coaster (although, to be fair, it wasn't just because of building the hotel but because there were complaints about the noise from that ride specifically) because he was too short to go on it last year and had been waiting desperately until he was tall enough (which he now is, but the coaster is gone).
