Can't find DCs E111 cards, does it matter?

Travelling to France and have travel insurance anyway so do I really need to keep searching?

E111 ran out in Jan 06! See here, you can get the replacement within 7 days.

It's those ones we have already, 7 days is too late we are travelling tomorrow.

I suspect you're fine with insurance, also I'm sure I've read somewhere that as a temp. measure you can just show your passport in lieu of health card (don't quote me though).

Do you have a record of the cardnumbers ? If needs be there is an emergency number you can call from abroad if you need to but probably more straight forward if you have the numbers with you.

Hurrah....., have to admit I carry mine (& DS) all the time in my wallet with credit cards. DH has (had?) his.

There is a phone number you can ring (it's an 0191 in Newcastle, will look it up in a sec) if you are abroad & can't find your card.

If you happen to lose your cards while you are abroad you can ring this number if you need treatment & they will sort it out for you - store it in your phone!

Dont rely on travel insurance to provide emergency care (this is the most likely need). If travelling to France, in an emergency you will most likely end up in a French NHS hospital just as you would in the UK. The EHIC card helps you access this service without having to pay. Many insurances assume that this is what you will do.
